To the Girl Who Thought It Was Her Fault

It’s always so difficult knowing what to say, or trying to find the right words, or just words in general.   Sophie, you don’t have everything figured out. I’m not sure anybody does have it all figured out. You’re still young trying to find your way through life. I know you’re struggling to find your purpose but deep down you already know what it is. The abuse you encountered when you were little doesn’t define you. What happened to you doesn’t make you any less of a woman like you’ve been told. It wasn’t your fault. It might seem the easiest thing in the world to blame yourself, but that’s the furthest thing from the truth.  All I want to do is give you a hug and let you know that everything is going to be ok. But listen to me when I say the pain you’re going through is the pain that’s going to make you who you are. It’s going to make you so strong, so proud.

When you’re young you need someone looking out for you, to guide you, to teach you right from wrong and you needed me. You never had anyone to look up to or run to when things got bad because you weren’t protected and you weren’t made to feel safe. Please don’t let it or him take anymore control of your life. Let it break you, let it heal you, then let it go. You’ll be so much happier, I promise. It all feels like easier said than done, but you don’t deserve to have any more of your life feel so tainted and feel so broken. You’re not a victim anymore, everytime you’re a victim - he wins. Not anymore. You’re the strongest person and have the biggest heart. Your purpose is helping other people, in anyway shape or form, you will do anything for anyone. It’s one of the most beautiful things about you. You don’t want anyone else to suffer, even though you’re still recovering from so much. You’re leaving writing this a victim, and instead a survivor. Instead you’re a strong woman with so much love to give, and so much love to return to you tenfold. You’ve won, you’re still here fighting everyday, and you’re the most beautiful person because of all you’ve endured. The rest of life isn’t going to be easy. But look how far you’ve come. You’ve climbed mountains. More mountains to go but you’ve got this. Remember you’re a warrior. I love you.

All my love in the world.

Love,
SOPHIE
